Kevin’s role changes with the boat, but the standard does not: connect the people, sails, rating, preparation, and decisions that make a program work.

Kevin Miller aboard Dorade

Classic ocean-racing campaign

Dorade

A 52-foot Sparkman & Stephens yawl from 1929, returned to the ocean races that made her one of sailing’s defining designs.

Dorade’s team identifies Kevin as tactician and sailing master, with responsibility spanning tactics, crew management, rating optimization, and sail and boat development. The work helped translate a historic restoration into a modern, repeatable race program.

Modern offshore multihull

Extreme H₂O

Pat Benz’s unmistakable bright-green Gunboat 66—and first multihull to finish the 2015 Transpac.

Kevin raced aboard Extreme H₂O on the Los Angeles-to-Honolulu course. The boat finished in 7 days, 19 hours, 25 minutes, 37 seconds, earned the Rudy Choy trophy for first multihull elapsed time, and placed second in ORCA on corrected time.

Sail inventory & optimization

Westerly

A classic Santa Cruz 52 made competitive for a new chapter.

Within a wider optimization effort that included keel and transom-scoop work, Kevin designed and built Westerly’s complete sail inventory at North Sails Channel Islands. The program used the 2023 Newport to Cabo race as a benchmark on the way to Transpac.
